Many of our friends in the Capital came by or called to see how we were doing in the last few days while her condition was so critical. We love that they recognize what she meant to us. And Chini was gracious even on the day of her death. When J&S, our supervisors, came by to see how we were holding up, Chini rose, with near-exhaustion, to greet "her" visitors. Her hospitality and friendliness are just a few of things we're going to miss from the best dog that ever lived.
With no monkeys around, bugs became her favorite prey here in the Capital. Not only would she pounce, paw, and kill the bugs, but she would literally take them in her mouth, shake them, and then roll around on their dead bodies. Is that dedication to the job or what?
On Christmas, one of our "nephews" taught her how to open her own presents!
People often commented on Rani Chini (Queen Chini) because she loved to snuggle in pretty pillows. I think more than anything, I'll miss snuggling with her. Believe me, you've never seen a dog snuggle with humans the way sweet Chini did.

I realize to some this may seem a bit cheesy to be so heartbroken over a dog, but believe me, she was way more than a dog to us. She was nothing short of family, and we miss her. A lot.

That stinks about Chini. We never even got to meet her! We're sorry :(
hey guys, just wanted you to know, i know the pain you are feeling. i'm a dog person too and to my family dogs are like little people. i am so sorry for your loss.
love you both and i miss chini too!
I'm totally floored by this! How very sad for ya'll. I wish I was there to give you a big hug! I feel like it's our dog - since we got all our dogs around the same time. I always thought of Chini as Kili & Maggie's sister. Sorry friend. Love you. It's been too long since we "talked". I miss you! Alison
I am sorry Em!!! Zach and I both feel for you. We don't know what we would do without our Snicker. WE love telling the story about telling her to go get the monkeys, like we tell Snicker to get the birds, LOL. I am thinking about you girl!
Christi told me today, I am sorry for your loss- I know how much you loved her.
Hey babe
I love you so much. No dog could ever replace Chini, but maybe someday a dog will have a chance.

NOOO!!! This is terrible news. I'm beyond sad.
When my daughter, Lindsey R., told me about your loss, I cried. I have enjoyed reading your blog and I know how special Chini was and will always be to you. I understand your loss and share in your sorrow.
Thanks everyone! How much do I love it that this post about Chini has provoked more comments than any other post? She was just that special. :)
Sorry for your loss. We loved our granddog and will miss her, too. I am glad that we got to meet her. I know how much she meant to you guys. Loves and hugs from us.
One of the most important things to remember is that Chini knew your love and loved you both.
Theologians may disagree, but I still believe dogs and cats go to Heaven!
Know that Wilma and I frequently speak to the Boss about you.
