"DVD's and books," was my response to my mom's question, "What do you want for Christmas?" She asked which ones, and now I'm at a loss for words. I don't know what DVD's are worthy of owning. Let me clarify...I don't know what chick flick DVD's that have come out since about August 2005 that are worthy of owning. So with that in mind, I need your help! What are some movies you think I'd enjoy having? One of my favorite things in the whole world is to put on a movie and scrapbook. But it has to be a certain kind of movie to scrapbook to. Here are some examples of what movies I already own that I watch a lot: Failure to Launch, Hitch, Mona Lisa Smile, Chocolat, Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama, Notting Hill, You've Got Mail, etc.
So please comment and tell me what movies I've missed since being here that you think I'd enjoy. (Side note: I don't watch R rated movies, but most of this type aren't anyway.)

Great question! After being out of the country for a while I feel out of touch too. You should blog about what folks recommend - I'd be interested to know. And I could watch Notting Hill over and over too.
Have you seen Just Like Heaven? It's a GREAT girly movie and Reese Witherspoon is in it!
OH yeah, Just Like Heaven is good :) I always go to www.screenit.com and look at what movies come out each week... (you can also read the brief synopsis and then see why they're rated the way they are if you want...) anyway, they usually have all the movies that come out - that's how I keep up with it :) but I don't always know which movies are good or not though :)
Just My Luck is cute (it's a Lindsay Lohan movie but I liked it :))
Music & Lyrics is cute too (but it does have a girl in it that dresses and acts pretty nasty - but overall it's good)...
I have Just Like Heaven already. Thanks for the suggestion though - keep 'em coming!!
The last girly movie I got was The Devil Wears Prada, I could watch it over and over! My mom and I rented Because I said so and It was a good mother daugther movie. Unfortunatly there haven't been to many good girly ones lately.
I have a list of some that I like. You may have seen some already:
The Notebook
Pursuit of Happyness
Because I Said So
Tristan and Isolde
The Wedding Date
Fever Pitch
A Lot Like Love
The Holiday
The Family Stone
50 First Dates
Wow! That was a lot. Hope that helps! :)
I have been trying to think for you. Did yall ever see Count of Monte Cristo? It came out when we were in college Zach and I love it. My best friend loves The Holiday I just borrowed it to watch so I will have to let u know about it!
OK... here are some movies that I haven't seen... but look pretty good..
- No Reservations - Catherine Zeta Jones... it's only PG... but it came out July 07... so maybe it won't be on DVD for xmas...
- Nancy Drew (same thing - came out June 07) - maybe not a chick flick, but would probably rock :)
OK, that's all I've thought of lately...
thought of another one (if you like musicals)- they just came out with a remake of Hairspray and it was really good! saw it twice in thailand.
my favorite movie is breakast at tiffany's.
my favorite movie is breakast at tiffany's.
Please tell me you can't resist the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. The newer one with Keira Knightly or so wasn't bad either - just not so dramaticlly drawn out. I love Emma with Gwenyth Paltrow (another older one). I can't think of any that have been out lately.
I've heard the CD version that Focus on the Family has of the chronicles of Narnia is awesome! I'd like to listen to it.
I completely agree with Holiday- it's on my own list- LOVED IT! And I watch Fever Pitch all the time. It's about baseball and it's got lots of good lovin' in it too!
Now, this is my kind of blog!!! And, in no particular order:
1) The Holiday - I agree w/ everyone else, and I own it, which says a lot
2) In Her Shoes - I also own it
3) Stranger than Fiction - not entirely a romantic comedy, but really good...and it's not typical Will Ferrell either
4) Serendipity - older, but I love this one, and I love John Cusack
5) The Cutting Edge - a classic
6) Only You - 1994, but it's one of my favorite romantic comedies of ALL time (takes place in Italy)
Outside of Rom. Comedies, I recommend:
The Office on DVD, Walk the Line, and if you like Disney...The Little Mermaid is on DVD, but about to go back "into the vault", so get it while you can :)
Hope you have fun watching your new movies, and let me know which ones you end up with.
so i had to add my own thoughts on girly movies...
Have to agree with Liz on 3...The Holiday, Stranger Than Fiction, and In Her Shoes...all great movies
*Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: it's a little weird, but it is so, so good-my all time fav. bc it makes you think too
*Elizabethtown: also, a little different but good
Not so weird or different...Catch & Release with Jennifer Garner...it's classic romantic, girly girl movie that didn't get a lot of press but I thought was super cute
So I would go with all that sneds said. those are good ones. I just watched Man of the House and The Perfect Man the other day. So cute!! They are cheesy but great.
Oh yes! Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I own it and it's wonderful! Funky, but has a GREAT message!
I thought of another one and had to add it... One Night With The King. You will have to let us know what u get. Not too many days left till your Birthday :)
Cutting Edge- a true classic
Stick It- will make you wish you were a gymnast!
Love Comes Softly & Love's Enduring Promise- just sweet
Magic of Ordinary Days- Hallmark movie with keri russell and skeet ulrich,so good
